In world reeked of villains that crawl among society in our
everyday world, one hero rises above them all. Though constantly badgered, this
hero is loved by all, she is—SUPER MOM!!!
Now while this category is very
broad, because there are billions of amazing super moms that save the day one
diaper at a time, I’d like to take this time to focus on a specific mom. My
mom.
Now my mom is probably one of the
top Super Moms there is. Like all moms and daughters, we get in fights, but I
could never have wished for a better mom. My mom has always been there for me
through thick and thin. Regardless of her hectic schedule, she’s always
attended every one of my plays, recitals, banquets, fundraisers and other
events over the years.
Now for the past few years my mom
has been attending college, first at TVCC and then at A&M Commerce in
Corsicana. Not only did she go back to school, but she also has been working a
full time job at the Elementary School as a Preschool Aid. Even after dealing
with over forty runny nose, screaming, hyper children she volunteers her time
weekly (multiple times each week) as Children’s Church Director at our church.
But her heroics don’t end here. While she has balanced a full time job, part
time job, and college she has also managed to be our mom (another full time
job).
I am so proud of her, not because
she’s mastered the art of multitasking but because she took on so much and gave
each item her all. She graduated from college with a degree in education with
honors (3.5 GPA).
She works hard to get to class early in order to greet her students so that
they have the best possible day. She plans fun activities and exciting
curriculums for the children’s church kids rather than just letting them play
dodge ball or video games. She also makes an effort to always be there for us
at every event, to wipe away every tear, hear every laugh, rub every sick
tummy, and kiss every boo-boo. While I know she hates the fact that she
couldn’t be there for our every hour, she was there for the important stuff.
I love my mom. Not just because
she’s the woman who carried me around in her tummy like a watermelon for nine
months and then brought me into this world, but also because she is so amazing
at what she does. I still don’t know how she manages it all, but she does. The
only explanation? Mom is a super hero (but it’s no secret). Even though moms
are just there for helpful advice in the superhero world, in the real world
they rise above most other heroes as one of the greats.
The other day I met a woman who
was crying because she was going through a difficult divorce, she had dropped
out of college when she was young and had no degree, and her kids were not
proud of her. In fact, she told me that they were ashamed of her.
It sickens me to think that anyone
could feel this way about their mother. Now I know not all mothers are Super
Moms, but they are still you’re mother and they love you. I can’t imagine being
any less proud of my mother, she’s incredible and that’s how everyone should
feel about their mothers.
Now not only is my mother Super
Mom, but she also makes me laugh more than anything else on this planet. My
best friend and I have a book of quotes from my mother (I’ve listed a few of my
favorites below).
Momisms:
Parafanaliya: Parifanara- Things I
don’t want there
Graduees: Graduates
Oldest Runing Show:
Dad: Dr Who's been airing since I was a kid.
Mom: That show is THAT OLD?!?!
Mom: That show is THAT OLD?!?!
Driving Lesson 101:
*Me and my best friend are talking while I drive*
Mom: Becky! You need to focus! F-O-U-C-K! FOCUS!
Me and BFF: What?! *LMAO*
Mom: Focus, isn’t that how you
spell it? Oh wait I missed a letter!
Me: More than that…
I love my mom very much, and I am
so proud of her! She makes me laugh and smile, and she’s always there when I
need her. Thanks for everything mom! You’re the best.
While it is for comedic purposes,
the mom song is a great explanation of all mom’s have to do (And some dad’s).
So if you didn’t do it yesterday,
(even if you did) go give your mom an extra special hug and thank her for all
that she’s done.
Hey guys, sorry I haven’t posted in like a month. It’s been
crazy, but I hope you all gave your moms a hug and told her you loved her
yesterday (and everyday, moms rock)! And don’t forget to give your dad a fist
bump. Happy Mother’s Day!
